So - it's been a while

And a few people have been asking if we fell off the hill... No - not quite... here's a progression of pics of the landscape work that's been going on as we can get to it over the last 10 months or so.

So - about a month after we moved in - we got the guys who did the original excavations for the house back in to do a bit of a clear-up of the surrounds of the house and to move a lot of rocks and dirt to the places we thought we wanted it...

Bobcat at work
Digger digging - I SOOO want a digger :-D
The beginnings of our rock formation...
There goes the rabbit hill!
On this side of the house we got the digger to level a bit out for the spa pool to go eventually.
And down below the house we got the land shaped and ready for planting - so far a couple of hundred flax plants there and  counting...
And there's the rock wall - and our garden of dirt. Because the summer was so dry this became our dust garden...
So Pete got to work with the spade (and Kane's help) and dug out over 2 tonnes of clay for the slab for the spa pool.
All set for the concrete
We were not silly enough to try and hand mix and wheelbarrow 1.5 cubic metres of concrete - we got the pros in...
And there's the result! Sitting in it's garden of dust...
And there it is today - we have grass now - and Ponga retaining walls around it too
And here's the other side of the house as it looks now. Grassy, retained and looking good! We even have vege gardens up the hill - all terraced and everything!
This weekend's project was paving the area outside my office. First was the AP7 aggregate, then these cool retaining mats...
And finally the river pebbles to complete the paving.
So - as you can see - things are happening. We are making slow progress, and we have now become adept at hosting guests - so get in touch and let us know when you wanna visit!
